in the Community
Business in the Community is a unique movement of companies across
the UK committed to improving continually their positive impact
on society, with a core membership of 650 companies, including 75
per cent of the FTSE 100. Members of Business in the Community are
committed to developing Community Excellence by actively engaging
in partnerships to tackle disadvantage and create enterprising communities.
Business in the Community works with member companies to develop
their education programmes in the following areas:
Developing pupils' skills in literacy and numeracy
Helping young people prepare for employability
Supporting headteachers and teachers in developing their
management and leadership skills
We also provide advice on suitable delivery partners to help get
these programmes into schools. Business in the Community operates
with 10 regional offices across the UK.

Foundation for Teaching Entrepreneurship
NFTE is an international, non-profit organisation that targets socially
excluded and disadvantaged young people from local communities.
It introduces them to the world of business and entrepreneurship
by teaching how to develop and operate their own legitimate small
business. The 3 core elements of NFTE are:
§ creating and developing curriculum resources (both text and
internet based)
§ training teachers
§ alumni support and services
NFTE-UK was established in March 2000 and, with the financial support
of the DfEE, has just certified 23 educators from schools colleges
and community organisations from around Great Britain. The first
NFTE student classes have just commenced in Sheffield and North
London.

The
Trident Trust
The Trident Trust in the UK encourages young people aged 14-18 years
to reach their full potential through Skills for Life. This programme
involves Personal Challenge and Community Involvement activities

UI helps young people to acquire the skills and knowledge they need

Youth Clubs UK is a leading national charity that delivers and supports
